We're a small, focused studio, and every product we make starts with the people who use it.

  • A designer in headphones, focused on the screen in front of him
  • A team member on the phone, walking through a bright loft office with plants and a rope swing
  • A hand holding a phone with a mobility app's goals screen, such as taking the bike twice a week
  • Elwin at work in the studio
  • The Voorhaven in Rotterdam, where the studio is based
  • Jasper, Elwin and Bart laughing together on a sofa in the studio

We founded Radial on one conviction: a good digital product needs craft and close collaboration more than it needs a big team or a heavy process.

Radial started in Rotterdam in 2014. Our founders had worked at agencies, startups and enterprises, and had seen what each does well and where it falls short. So they built a studio where senior people do the work, design and development go hand in hand and every client gets the attention it needs.

We have grown since, but we stay small on purpose. Every client works directly with the people who design, build and ship. Nothing is handed down to juniors, and nobody sits between you and the work.

We put our energy into the work, for clients such as Heineken, Uber and SPIE.

We work with startups validating their first product, scale-ups refining their experience and enterprises that need to move faster than their internal teams allow. The work runs from a four-day design sprint to a six-month product build.

  1. Products should start with people

Start with the people who will use the product and the problems they actually have. Features, technology and the business case come after that.

  2. Small teams build better products

The best work comes from a small group of skilled people with a stake in the outcome. That is why we keep the team small.

  3. AI is a tool, not a shortcut

We use AI to speed up our process: to synthesize research, explore more directions and iterate faster. The thinking and the judgment are still ours.

  4. Design and code, side by side

We design and build at the same time, because the best interface decisions get made when you can hold the working product in your hands.

  5. Design without impact is decoration

Plenty of teams ship a good-looking product and never find out whether it worked. We start every project with clear goals and measure against them: conversion, task completion, user satisfaction.

Most studios follow a linear process. We work in short, focused cycles, accelerated with AI.

Traditional approach

Long projects, linear process

  • Write a brief
  • Lock the scope
  • Design in isolation
  • Build from spec
  • Launch and move on
  • No validation

A small team that gets a lot done. Everyone at Radial is senior, hands-on and invested in the work.

  • Jasper den Ouden

Learns a client's domain fast and makes it his own. Jasper understands what users need and what moves a business forward, and turns that into products that are easy to use and have impact.

  • Bart Dunweg

A sharp eye for detail and deep in the craft. At scrappy startups and large corporates alike, Bart sees exactly what's holding a product back and knows what it takes to turn good into outstanding.

  • Elwin de Witte

Turns tangled user paths into flows that make sense. Elwin spots quickly what's broken, explores dozens of directions and lands on the solution that works best for users.
